Navigating the Post-Holiday Reset: My Top 5 Tips for a Vibrant Return to Routine

As the summer holidays draw to a close, the prospect of reentering our routines can feel like a daunting task, especially on this side of Christmas. I have carved out a little roadmap to help you gracefully transition back to the groove of everyday life. Let's dive into my top 5 tips, tailored to realign your eating, exercising, and sleeping habits for a vibrant and energised return. 

 1. Hydrate to Rejuvenate: After indulging in festive treats, it's crucial to rehydrate your body. Kickstart your day with a refreshing glass of water to awaken your senses and boost your metabolism. Staying hydrated supports digestion, energises your workouts, and enhances overall well-being.

2. Reignite Your Plate with Colour: Revitalise your meals by infusing them with a rainbow of fresh, nutrient-dense ingredients. Load up on vibrant fruits and vegetables to nourish your body with essential vitamins and minerals. Remember, you eat with your eyes first, make your plate look exciting and enticing, it will make a huge difference! 

3. Move Mindfully and with Joy: Easing back into exercise can be enjoyable when you choose activities that bring you joy. Whether it's a scenic walk in our beautiful Central Otago landscape, a dance session in your living room with your children jamming out to Frozen, a boxing class with me to release your tension, or a yoga class to find your zen, find movements that make you want to do it every day, or every second day (life activities dependent). Exercise should not be a chore; it should be a celebration of your body's capabilities.

4. Establish Sleep Sanctuaries: Reclaim restful nights by transforming your sleep environment into a sanctuary. Dim the lights before bedtime, disconnect from screens, and create a calming bedtime routine, this will help with your active little ones too. Quality sleep rejuvenates your body and mind, setting the stage for a vibrant and productive day ahead.

5. Gradual Reentry: Resist the urge to overhaul your routine in a day. Instead, introduce changes gradually. Start with small adjustments, such as replacing sugary snacks with wholesome alternatives or incorporating short, invigorating workouts, my 30 minute PT sessions are perfect for this. These incremental shifts pave the way for sustainable habits.
